Algo de (Algún)/Some: Means 'a certain number or amount'. It has gender and number. In Spanish this expressions can be used in affirmative sentences, and with questions. Is used with countable and uncountable nouns. In the negative form you can use nada de (ningún)/any, meaning the same.

The -o at the end of alguno and ninguno, is not used before masculine nouns. Ningunos and ningunas are not very usual forms.

¿Hay algún coche en el garaje?/Is there any car in the garage?

Sí, hay alguno./Yes there is someone.
No, no hay ninguno./No there is not anyone.

¿Hay alguna silla en la habitación?/Is there any chair in the room?

Sí, hay alguna./Yes there is someone.
No, no hay ninguna./No there is not anyone.

¿Tiene ella algunos problemas?/Has she any problems?

Sí, tiene algunos./Yes she has some.
No, ella no tiene ninguno./No she has not any.


You can use this forms with persons:

Afirmative: Alguien./Someone (somebody).
Negative: Nadie./Anyone (anybody).
Questions: Alguien./Anyone (anybody).


¿Hay alguien aquí?/Is there anyone here?
Él no ayuda a nadie./He doesn't help to anyone.


You can use this forms with things too:

Afirmative: Algo./Something.
Negative: Nada./Anything.
Questions: Algo./Anything.

If you use the negative form, it is necessary to put no before like the example:

Ella no quiere nada./She doesn't want anything.

Expressions like algo de or nada de are very used in Spanish

No tengo nada de dinero./I have not any money.
¿Quieres algo de té?/Would you like some tee?


Mucho/Much (many, a lot of). It has gender and number depending on the noun.

Muchas gracias./Thank you very much.
Tiene mucha ilusión./He's got a lot of illusion. (la ilusión is a femenine noun).
No he comido mucho./I haven't eaten very much.


Poco/Little (few). It has gender and number depending on the noun.

Tengo poco tiempo./I have little time.
¿No podrías trabajar un poco más rápido?/Couldn't you work a little faster?
¿Tienes amigos en esta ciudad?; muy pocos./Have you friends in this town?; very few.
Pocas personas saben eso./Few people know that.


Varios/Several. It has gender depending on the noun.

Hay varias niñas aquí./There are several girls here.


Todo/All (the whole). It has gender and number depending on the noun.

¡Toda la gente está feliz!/All the people are happy!.
Toda la casa es un desastre./The whole house is a disaster.


Bastante/Enough. It has number depending on the noun.

No tengo bastante dinero./I haven't got enough money.
Hay bastantes razones para hacer esto./There are enough reasons to do this.
